CASPI Staff

Prof Jim Falk, is the Convenor of CASPI, and Director of the Australian Centre for Science, Innovation and Society. He led the recent evaluation of the Stern Report for DSE, and the Garnaut Review projects “The Science of Climate Change” and “The Science of Emissions Stabilisation”. He has a long standing background of research and policy advisory work in environmental issues stretching over some 30 years, including a range of books, papers and reports on climate change and energy issues. His first best selling book on Climate Change was published in 1989. Prof Falk is a member of Committee of Melbourne’s Task Forces on Climate Change, and he is the Co-Director of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities Pacific Rim Cities: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies project. This involves a comparative studies of climate change mitigation and adaptation challenges and responses in a group of cities in China, the US, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Melbourne Australia. Prof Falk and his Centre are a collaborator in Future Melbourne. He is also the founding Chair of the City of Hume’s Sustainability Taskforce.
